Hello All, Kent & I are pleased to inform you
that Frito Lay / Quaker Oats has notified me that they are willing to donate
"5" computers to RSSA so that each team has a computer to give away as
part of our educational campaign. ( i.e. monitor / CPU / keyboard
/ mouse )
As far as the educational campaign, this is what our goals are for structuring this event. Kent and I understand that each team may need to structure its own educational campaign based on age and grade level, but the most important thing that we want is for it to be FAIR. We want to make sure that EVERY child has a fair chance at receiving the opportunity to enter their name as many times a possible to WIN a computer. ( One computer per each team will be given away at The Year End Get-Together ) Below are basic ideas we have decided on
as being our main criteria for the Education Campaign:
1. Report Cards - Each player would earn
chances based on the following criteria -- each "A" = 5 chances - each
"B" = 3 chances - each "C" 1 chance NOTE: Plus Marks
= 5 chances -- Check Marks = 3 chances -- Shows Improvement
/ Positive Behavioral Comments = 1 chance As for establishing a program
as a function of improvement, we have decided that if a student raises
his/her grades one grade level from one report card to the next, then their
chances DOUBLE which adds extra incentive. For example: If I had
a student who had a "B" on his/her first report card and then got an "A"
on his/her second report card - that shows improvement - then that student
gets double chances of the grade they last received. Which in this case
would be 10 chances.
2. Kids Sports Newspaper Articles - Each
kid who writes an article for the Kids Sports Newspaper will receive 10
chances. Depending on the number of articles written, all articles
may not be published but we plan to work with the newspaper to arrange
for us to have one full page if the response for this constitutes doing
so.
3. Book Reading Contest - For every one
( 1 ) book read each player will receive 3 chances at the opportunity to
WIN the computer. This needs to be signed off on or verified by a
parent as confirmation that the books have been read. ( reading materials
must be age appropriate )
4. Anything else that you want to
add to the Educational Campaign is up to you and team specific.
In essence, we are encouraging kids to
increase their chances by taking advantage of all the options laid out.
For each chance they earn the more times their name will be put into the
pool for the possibility of WINNING a computer in a drawing at the Year
End Association Get-Together.
Very Important Reminder:
LETS
MAKE THIS A FUN ACTIVITY !!!!!!!!!
This educational campaign is something
that we feel will set RSSA aside from the rest by giving each child the
incentive to continue focusing on education while having fun playing basketball.
Thank you for your cooperation and we look
forward to another FUN and EXCITING season.
